Isn’t it wonderful when you see a red breasted Robin – and not just on the front of a Christmas Card.
Here at our stores in Almondsbury, Lechlade and Cheddar we stock a host of goodies for our feathered friends as well as all the accessories.
According to the RSPB it is winter feeding which benefits the birds most, however, the charity also says food shortages can occur at any time so by feeding all year round you’re giving your visitors a better chance to survive shortages. The RSPB suggests putting out food and water on a regular basis with food twice daily during severe weather. Birds need high fat food during the cold winter weather to survive the frosty nights.
Interestingly birds will respond to routine and the RSPB says as the birds become used to it they will time their visits to your garden – how fantastic would that be to see?
And then maybe at Christmas 2012 you may be welcoming a robin to your garden and not just the mantelpiece!
